Such a simple quote, yet filled with so much meaning. Carpe diem literally means seize the day. What seems so simple to understand is in fact so difficult to act upon. Sure, we all have our days when everything seems to work, yet it is how we take on the hard days that define us. Carpe diem is about getting over the obstacles of each day and waking up with a positive outlook.
Carpe diem may seem impossible to teenagers. I mean, we are almost programmed to be sarcastic, pessimistic, and jaded. Being full of life and completely set on seizing the day just seems off in high school. Yet this is the key, not only to success, but to a happy life. The sooner a person can learn this trick, the sooner a person can become truly happy.
I have often struggled with making the most of my days. Sometimes, the whole day flies by and I haven’t left the couch. I think it might be the fact that I feel like I have so many more days ahead of me. But as I near the end of high school, I am beginning to realize that I only have a limited time to do all the things I have always wanted to do before going to college. As a result, I feel like the days are flying by and I wake up feeling like there is so much to do! I guess this is an analogy about life. We start off convinced that we have nothing but time, only to find out that time is the most precious thing we will ever have. So enjoy, because I am all out of quotes!
